With the electronic marking and registration of your
animal you have taken the best possible way of precaution to be united with your
four-legged friend rapidly again in the case when it is lost.
In addition, the marking by means of microchip is also necessary for the tourism with animals. The microchip number and one at least 21 days old or duly boostered antirabies-vaccination must be registered in an European Union pet-passport, which each veterinary surgeon issues. If you should intend to travel outside of the European Union with your four-legged friend, also a blood investigation on rabies anti-body is necessary, which must have taken place at least 3 months before the return into the European Union. From this regulation are excluded journeys to Ascension, united Arab Emirates, Antigua and Barbuda, Netherlands Antilles, Argentina, Australia, Aruba, Barbados, Bahrain, Bermuda, Canada, Chile, Fiji, the Falklands, Hong Kong, the Kaimans, Montserrat, Mauritius, New Kaledonia, New Zealand, French Polynesia, St. Pierre and Miquelon, Russian federation, Singapore, Saint Helena, Taiwan, United States of America, Saint Vincent the Grenadines, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna as well as Mayotte, if these states are reached on the direct way (airway) and also the return journey goes the direct way. This regulation is important for journeys on the landway across the Balkan to Greece, since Serbia and Montenegro do not rank among the states specified above. In this case also for the through journey a blood investigation on rabies anti-bodies is necessary for the reimportation of the pet into the European Union. |
